Igor Petrushevski is a violin professor at the Royal Academy of Music - London. He is considered by many as one of the leading violin teachers in the UK. His students are winners of international competitions including: P. I. Tchaikovsky, N. Paganini, M. Long-Thibaud, Tibor Varga, Rodolfo Lipizer, Indianapolis, Tokyo, Wieniavsky, Cologne, Heifetz, Sion, Postacchini, Joachim, Britten, Caneti and Enescu. His student Jaroslaw Nadrzycki has won 1st prize and all the special prizes at the Enescu Competition 2009. He has made numerous radio and television performances all over the world. Over the last 20 years he has given master classes and played in the major concert halls of Italy, France, Austria, UK, all of former Yugoslavia, Russia (Moscow Conservatory), USA, China (Beijing Conservatory) and Korea. Some of his current and former students are leading important orchestras, have prominent solo international careers and are holding teaching posts in universities all over the world. He is an Artistic Director of the ‘Strings in London’ international music festival.A documentary film about his life and work has been broadcast in over 20 countries on satellite television. He is an artist in residence in festivals in Italy, Great Britain, Montenegro, Austria and the USA where he also gives regular master classes in solo violin and chamber music. He has been a jury member of international competitions including: The George Enescu International Violin Competition 2007 and the president of Jury in 2009, The London Oratory International Violin Competition, Tchaikovsky Competition for the Young Musicians and The Aram Khachaturyan International Violin Competition.
