Northern Lights Receives Art Access Grant

Thanks to an Arts Access grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, the NLMF will cooperate with assisted living facilities on the Iron Range to bring senior citizens to the performances of Puccini's La Boheme, in Aurora, Chisholm and Ely; and to the NLMF Symphony Concerts in Aurora and Chisholm. Musicologist Maya Pritsker will visit the assisted living facilities to provide pre-concert lectures on the opera. Bus transportation, group discounted tickets and access to special seating will be made available for participants.

Giuseppi Verdi 200 Birthday Concert in Biwabik

Celebrating the 200th Birthday of Giuseppe Verdi, NLMF will present a special concert in his honor.  Among the works to be performed are Verdi's seldom performed String Quartet, and a selection of arias from some of Verdi's operas.  Soprano Leah-Beth Frey Rabine, originally from Crosby, MN, winner of the Metropolitan Opera Auditions and an internationally known opera star, will join the NLMF singers in a selection of arias from Verdi's operas, including La Forza del destino, La Traviata, and Rigoletto.

The concert will be held on Saturday, July 6 at 3:00 PM at St. John's Catholic Church, Biwabik, MN.
