Northern Lights is fortunate to have access to an array of historic performance venues for its concerts and operas.
By performing in these unique venues, Northern Lights is not only able to bring the highest level of classical music to Iron Range communities but to celebrate and showcase the architectural gems found in Northeastern Minnesota.
Over the years our venues have included; Mesabi East School and Holy Rosary RC Church in Aurora, Chisholm High School Auditorium, Washington Auditorium in Ely, the Copper Top Church In Duluth, B’nai Abraham Synagogue in Virginia, the Reif Center in Grand Rapids and the historic Hibbing High School.

During the final concert of our 2016 season, Erik Erie, high school principal of the Mesabi East Schools announced that the school auditorium had been officially renamed the “Veda Zuponcic Auditorium” in honor of NLMF Founding Artistic Director and Aurora native, Veda Zuponcic.
Our newest venue, the Eveleth City Auditorium was completed in November, 1912. Over the years it hosted concerts, theater performances and community events. In the early 1950s use of the auditorium declined and in 1964 it was leased out as a factory for the manufacture of pajamas and underwear. From 1985 to 2000 the auditorium housed a screen printing company. The auditorium was featured in the 2005 film North Country starring Charlize Theron. Renovation to the auditorium began in 2012 and phase 1 was recently completed.
