Opera Apprentice Program

Headed by co-directors Barbara Dever and Carlos César Rodríguez, this program is designed for gifted college age and emerging artist level singers.

NLMF program will include:
Cast Assignments in Young Artist production of La Cenerentola
Role Preparation
Audition Package Coaching
Weekly Vocal Lessons and Coaching sessions
Opera Arias and Scenes concert
Master Classes with Barbara Dever, Carlos César Rodríguez as well as Northern Lights Music Festival Conductor Gavriel Heine, and mainstage director Chía Patiño as well as other festival faculty
Opportunities to collaborate with other festival chamber musicians throughout the festival season.


Program Details

Tuition and Housing:

$2000 for the 4 week session.
Includes two performances of Opera Gala in Aurora and Chisholm, MN; and a two performances of the children’s version of Rossini’s La Cenerentola, with orchestra, in Chisholm and Aurora.

Free Airport pick-up from Chisholm/Hibbing Airport (preferred) or Duluth.
Housing for members of the Apprentice program will be provided at Mesabi Range College, with daily transportation to rehearsal sites included in the fee.

Meals: Some group meals are provided throughout the three week period. Cooking is possible at the Mesabi Range College dorms; there are many local restaurants available for lunches and dinners in every city in which we perform.

COVID restrictions enacted by the State of Minnesota will obtain.
