Opera Apprentice Program

Headed by co-directors Barbara Dever and Carlos César Rodríguez, this program is designed for gifted college age and emerging artist level singers.

NLMF program will include:
Cast Assignments in Opera Apprentice Family show of The Magic Flute.
Chorus opportunities / possible comprimario roles in Mainstage Die Zauberflöte.
Role Preparation.
Audition Package Coaching
Weekly Vocal Lessons and Coaching sessions.
Opera Arias and Scenes concert.
Master Classes with Barbara Dever, Carlos César Rodríguez as well as Northern Lights Music Festival Conductor Gavriel Heine, and mainstage director as well as other festival faculty.
Opportunities to collaborate with other festival chamber musicians throughout the festival season.  


Program dates: June 25 – July 18 2022
Arrival: June 25th
Performance dates: The Magic Flute Family Show July 14 and 16, 2022
Mainstage: July 15 and 17, 2022
Departure: July 18 unless involved on other festival concerts

Program Details

Tuition and Housing:

$2000 for the 4 week session. Includes housing and program costs.

Free Airport pick-up from Chisholm/Hibbing Airport (preferred) or Duluth.
Housing for members of the Apprentice program will be provided. If you are arriving or departing from Duluth, arrival or departure times must be after 8:00 a.m.

Meals: Some group meals are provided throughout the three week period. There are many local restaurants available for lunches and dinners in every city in which we perform.

COVID restrictions enacted by the State of Minnesota will obtain.
